As authorized by the University of California, Design & Construction Services is responsible for administering UCSB’s architecture, engineering, and construction building program, including the enforcement of the California Building Code, California Public Contract Code (PCC), Business &Professions Code (BPC) and related University policies. DCS's activities support the role delegated to the unit as the Regents' Representative in all phases of projects involving significant modifications to existing physical plant, from roadways, bicycle paths, and walkways, to the construction of new campus buildings. Further, DCS is charged with overseeing the selection process for all design professionals as well as administering all contracts between the Regents and external design professionals and construction contractors.
