Description

Seismic Strengthening, accessibility upgrades, and deferred maintenance improvements for the existing Music Unit 1 Building, 40,017 gross square feet, originally constructed in 1954.  Seismic strengthening includes addition of concrete shear walls, shotcrete reinforcement of existing structural elements, associated foundation upgrades, and strengthening of miscellaneous structural components including columns and beams.  Accessibility upgrades consist of Path of Travel improvements including a new access ramp, upgraded restrooms, new door hardware, new signage, and upgraded drinking fountains.  Deferred Maintenance improvements include upgrade of the HVAC and lighting systems, repair and replacement of damaged building elements such as roofing, stairs, railings, as well as removal of hazardous materials throughout the building.
